Mike Lew is a playwright. His mother was heartbroken he's not a doctor instead, but she's coming around. Good thing, because Lew is becoming a force among a new generation of playwrights.

His two-act play, "Tiger Style!," is being staged by the Huntington Theatre Company. The plot plays off the stereotype of the "Tiger mom" — the Asian-American parent who treats her children as projects in perfectionism.

Lew joined WBUR's All Things Considered to discuss the play, his childhood and his relationship with his parents.

This segment aired on November 7, 2016.
