Mass. Gaming Commission Investigation Into Wynn Casino 'Aggressively Continues' Even After Wynn Resignation

A Massachusetts Gaming Commission review of Wynn Resorts "aggressively continues" after Steve Wynn Tuesday night resigned as CEO and chairman of the company building a resort casino in Everett, the commission's executive director said Wednesday.

Executive director Ed Bedrosian said Wynn's resignation — which came after allegations of sexual misconduct were reported in the Wall Street Journal — raises additional questions for the investigation, including Wynn's continued stock ownership, management and control influence and the brand and financial impact.

"These are issues that will need to be considered," Bedrosian said during a meeting at the commission's downtown Boston office. "I'm telling you that our investigation aggressively continues and our expectation of cooperation on behalf of our licensees is very high given the gravity of these issues."

The commission initially deemed that Wynn Resorts met its suitability requirements, but reopened its determination last week after the Wall Street Journal report.

Commission Chairman Stephen Crosby, participating from a family vacation, said through a remote connection that a "central question" for investigators will be what did the Wynn board of directors know about the allegations against Wynn, and when did they know it.
