Friday, as part of a five hour music marathon at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass., producer and composer Brian Eno's "Music For Airports" will get a live treatment in a first-ever collaboration between two trailblazers of contemporary classical music: the Kronos Quartet and the Bang On A Can All-Stars.

Robert Black, bassist with the Bang On A Can All-Stars, joins us to talk about playing with Kronos and how Eno's 1978 composition ushered in the modern ambient music era and redefined how we relate to the sounds we hear in our everyday lives.

This segment aired on April 15, 2011.
