British and French foreign ministers say they are heading to New York to press for a United Nations resolution aimed at halting Syria's violent crackdown.

Officials hope Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim and Arab League officials can persuade Russia and China to back a U.N. Security Council resolution.

Russia says it won't support any resolution which could enable foreign military intervention. The BBC's Richard Galpin reports on Russia's relationship with Syria.

This segment aired on January 30, 2012.
