In Syria, targeted violence against Christians has escalated.
Many Christians are reported to have been abducted, physically harmed or killed, and churches damaged or destroyed. Among the dead is a beloved Dutch priest, 75-year-old Fr. Frans van der Lugt.
Christians have already fled the country, but a Jesuit priest, Fr. Nawras Samour, has decided to stay behind.
The BBC's Lyse Doucet reports.
