The country's largest retailer is getting into banking.

Walmart is teaming up with Green Dot Bank, known for pre-paid credit and debit cards, to offer low price checking accounts starting this October.

Walmart will effectively act as bank branches for GoBank, the mobile banking platform backed by Green Dot Bank. Will Walmart succeed and what would that mean for the nation's banking system?
