We look at how news stories developed online over the weekend, including numerous athletes wearing 'I Can't Breathe' shirts, after a jury declined to charge a police officer in the death of Eric Garner in New York, the #crimingwhilewhite Twitter hashtag and a video of a little girl dancing on a New York subway platform.

The Oxford Dictionary also added some new Internet-inspired words, from "lolcat," — a photo of cats with a message typed on it, to hawt, an informal spelling of hot.

Annie Colbert, viral content editor of the news website Mashable, joins Here & Now's Robin Young to talk about how news stories take off on social media.
