Police in Beijing have asked prosecutors to press charges against five women's rights activists who were arrested last month for organizing protests against sexual harassment. The protests were scheduled for International Women’s Day, March 8th.

Fellow women’s rights activists in China were shocked at the arrests. Many fear the crackdown could continue, and some have even gone into hiding.

Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson talks to NPR's Anthony Kuhn in Beijing about the activists, and how people both in China and around the world are reacting to the arrests.
