Charter Communications announced Tuesday that it is purchasing its larger rival Time Warner Cable for $56.7 billion. The deal would create the second-largest cable company in the country.

The deal comes a month after Comcast ended a bid to buy Time Warner, amid increased regulatory scrutiny. Derek Thompson, senior editor of The Atlantic, joins Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson to discuss the deal.
