In the U.S., undocumented immigrants are ineligible for public health insurance except for emergency Medicaid. For some people, that's led to dangerous health conditions that could lead to expensive emergency room visits. Reporter Jake Harper of Here & Now contributor Side Effects Public Media follows a dialysis patient in Indiana whose regular dialysis wasn't covered by Medicaid so she had to turn to charity care for treatment.
