The United Nations is hoping to secure a 48-hour pause in the fighting in Aleppo, Syria so that it can resume its delivery of much-needed humanitarian aid there.

Fighting has intensified as rebel groups fighting Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad have made significant gains in recent weeks.
