Yahoo secretly scanned all of its users' incoming emails at the request of the U.S. government, according to a Reuters report published Tuesday.

The company allegedly built a custom program last year to bulk search emails for specific information, but it remains unclear what the government requested.

In a statement, Yahoo disputed parts of the report, calling it "misleading."

Here & Now's Robin Young talks to Joseph Menn, who broke the story for Reuters, about the program.
