Last night's debate between Republican North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory and Attorney General Roy Cooper, a Democrat, focused on coal ash, taxes and HB2, the controversial "bathroom bill" that requires transgender people to use the bathrooms according to the sex on their birth certificate.

A poll out today gives Cooper a two-point advantage in the race.

Jeff Tiberii of Here & Now contributor WUNC joins Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson to discuss the debate and look ahead at the final weeks of campaigning.

This segment aired on October 19, 2016.
