With a hot-hitting start, a blown lead, and finally a dramatic 10th inning, the Cubs overcame a 108-year drought to win the World Series. The historic win brought with it an explosion of pride, especially for longtime fans who stuck by the Cubs throughout their most disappointing seasons.

NPR Weekend Edition Saturday host and lifelong Cubs fan, Scott Simon (@nprscottsimon), talks with Here & Now’s Robin Young about what this historic win means to Chicago fans.

This segment aired on November 3, 2016.
