The Republican-controlled legislature in Ohio sent Governor John Kasich a bill last night that would ban most abortions in the state. The "Heartbeat Bill" would make abortions illegal if a fetal heartbeat can be detected. That could be as early as six weeks into pregnancy.

Gov. Kasich has questioned the constitutionality of the law, which would be among strictest abortion rules in the country.

Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles (@joingles) joins Here & Now's Robin Young to discuss how lawmakers passed the twice-defeated bill and whether Kasich will sign it.

This segment aired on December 7, 2016.
