More than two dozen national monuments across the country are currently under review by the Department of the Interior, by order of President Trump. The national monument designation is designed to protect historical or natural resources on federal land.

One of those being reviewed is Giant Sequoia National Monument in the mountains of central California. As Valley Public Radio's Ezra David Romero (@ezraromero) reports, 17 years after the monument's creation, its existence is in question.

This segment aired on June 21, 2017.
