One reporter's ride through northern Syria with a rebel fighter shows that even though anti-government rebels are increasingly cornered and the regime has the upper hand, some rebels still believe in the cause.

NPR's Ruth Sherlock (@Rsherlock) gained rare access to cross inside a rebel-held area in the north, and found it was so isolated from the rest of Syria that it feels like a different country.

This segment aired on June 15, 2018.
