June marks the 70th anniversary of the Berlin airlift, the nearly yearlong campaign that supplied food and energy to around 2 million people living in West Berlin after World War II.

As Kassandra Sundt (@KassandraSundt) reports, the effort is seen by many historians as the first battle in the decadeslong Cold War.

This segment aired on June 29, 2018.
