Last year, there were thousands of overdoses in Washington, D.C., all linked to the synthetic drug K2. The drug is cheap and the effects are unpredictable. Many of the users are chronically homeless. As Elly Yu (@ellywyu) of WAMU reports, the District has a pilot program, sending out teams of community outreach specialists to connect people using K2 to social services.

This segment aired on January 22, 2019.
