There have been ongoing protests in Portland, Oregon, since the police killing of George Floyd. For four months, police used tear gas to contain large crowds until the mayor banned the chemical agent in September.

Tear gas exposure is dangerous to humans. But it's unclear what damage the chemicals are doing to the environment. Monica Samayoa of Oregon Public Broadcasting reports.
