Six minutes after the Supreme Court ruling striking down Roe v. Wade, Missouri's Attorney General Eric Schmitt posted a photo of himself enacting the state’s near-total ban on abortion.

One reason Schmitt was so eager to get in front of cameras was to showcase his conservative cred as he runs for U.S. Senate, along with five other Republicans.

Here & Now's Scott Tong speaks with KCUR reporter Steve Kraske.

This segment aired on July 5, 2022.
