How solar flare increasing on the sun affects Earth

There has been an increase in the number of large solar flares on the sun in the past week, including the biggest one in six years.

Here & Now's Scott Tong and Kelly Beatty, senior editor of Sky and Telescope, talk about solar flares and how this kind of solar activity affects the Earth.
