Backgound Check System Said Unfair
On Beacon Hill, lawmakers are facing increasing pressure to reform the Massachusetts law that governs access to criminal records. The Criminal Offender Record Information System contains 2.8 million records. This information is available mainly to police and potential employers. But critics of the system say it is too hard on ex-offenders who are trying to get work and re-enter society.
