Globe To Tie Wages to Revenues?
By Martha Bebinger
Listen to story (Real Audio)
BOSTON, Mass. - October 18, 2006 - The Boston Globe is in another squeeze. Shrinking circulation and declining ad revenue have already led to staff cuts and employee buy-outs this year. Now, Globe management is asking staff, for the first time, to agree to a contract that would tie their wages to the paper's revenues.
The Boston Newspaper Guild, the union that represents almost a thousand reporters, columnists, and other Globe employees, is voting on the proposed agreement today. WBUR's Martha Bebinger has more on the story.
