BOSTON, Mass. - February 01, 2007 - Father Robert Drinan was a major influence in politics and academia, especially in Boston and Washington. So it's fitting that both cities are honoring his life and work this week.

The first priest to be elected to the US Congress died on Sunday and will be buried on Saturday in Weston. Meanwhile, Georgetown University's Law Center, where Drinan taught since leaving Congress in 1980, is holding a funeral mass today and Boston College will conduct its funeral mass on Saturday.

It was at BC's Law School that Father Drinan's achievements as dean elevated the college to a national profile, as WBUR's Monica Brady-Myerov reports.
