Lynch Cruises To Re-Election After Primary Scare
Massachusetts Rep. Stephen Lynch is heading back to Washington for an fifth term after winning re-election.
The Democrat from South Boston defeated Republican Vernon Harrison and independent candidate Philip Dunkelbarger on Tuesday.
Harrison is a computer industry technician from Braintree, while Dunkelbarger is public and private sector worker from Westwood.
Lynch faced a bigger concern in September, when labor official Mac D'Alessandro of Milton challenged him in the Democratic primary.
While Lynch is a former ironworker, he lost some labor support by voting against the Obama administration's health care overhaul. Lynch says he opposed by bill because it lacked a public option and retained antitrust protections for the insurance industry.
