Lynn Man Charged With Beating Infant Son To Death
Prosecutors say a Lynn man charged with severely beating his 3-month-old son who later died is headed to court.
The Essex district attorney's office says 32-year-old Anthony Gideika is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on a charge of assault and battery on a child causing serious bodily injury.
An autopsy is being performed and charges could be upgraded.
Police responded to Gideika's home at about 2 a.m. Monday for reports of a baby in distress. Chase Gideika was taken to a hospital with skull and leg fractures, retinal bleeding, bruising and swelling of the testicles. He was pronounced dead at Massachusetts General Hospital.
A twin sibling was unharmed and placed in the custody of state child welfare officials.
It was not known of Gideika had hired a lawyer.
