Berklee College Of Music Removes Bill Cosby's Name From Scholarship

Berklee College of Music is distancing itself from comedian Bill Cosby, who has come under sharp scrutiny in recent weeks over more than a dozen accusations of sex assault.

Berklee has removed his name from an online scholarship it awards.

But, according to The Boston Globe, the University of Massachusetts Amherst is not cutting ties with Cosby, who is a UMass graduate. He remains an honorary co-chairman of the school's fundraising campaign.

Cosby has not faced charges in connection with any of the rape allegations.

In 2004, Berklee presented Cosby with an honorary doctor of music degree "for his commitment to advancing higher education and for his longtime love and promotion of jazz." He was a commencement speaker for the school that year.

Allen Bush, a spokesman for the college, said in an email Wednesday that the school "has no further comment at this time."
