Here's What Boston Pitched To Get GE's Headquarters

In announcing its decision to move its global headquarters to Boston, General Electric pointed to the city's educational institutions and tech savvy as a major draw. And now, we have a look at exactly how Boston was able to lure the $130 billion global company to the city.

In a 11-page proposal to GE, the city and the state touted Boston's young population, educational institutions and innovation economy. Of particular note are pages 5 through 8, where the proposal highlights eight possible locations for GE's new world headquarters — six in the Seaport District and two downtown. GE hasn't said exactly where it will be based, but pinpointed the Seaport as its desired location. This proposal gives a glimpse at which specific sites the company may be exploring.

The sites mentioned in the proposal include: Summer and D streets, 6 Tide St., and few other sites near the World Trade Center and the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

The proposal notes each of the six Seaport sites are in close proximity to Logan Airport, and have ferry access and helipad accessibility.

The two proposed sites outside the Seaport District include the former Boston Public Schools building on Court Street and a MassDOT building on Kneeland Street.
