Forecast: It May Be October, But It's Going To Feel Like Summer

Although we are into the second half of October, several days this week will feel like summer and we could even near the record high temperatures for the date on Tuesday and Wednesday, although breaking the records will be hard. It’s worth noting the record high on Tuesday is 82, set back in 1947, and the record high on Wednesday is a bit higher at 84, set in 1945.

High pressure to our south will bring a flow of air from the southern states for several days this week. Monday will be a transitional day between very mild air and downright warm air on Tuesday. There is a front between these two air masses. Depending on exactly when the front passes on Tuesday will determine just how warm we become. If the front passes very early in the day then temperatures have a good chance of reaching or exceeding 80 degrees, but if the warm front gets hung up to our south for a few hours during the morning we may stay in the upper 70s. I am of course splitting hairs as there is no doubt it’s going to be very warm.

The warmth lasts into the middle of the week before a series of fronts and low pressure systems bring some unsettled weather for the end of the week. As long as things keep moving the weather will clear for the weekend, however, there is also a chance the systems slow down a bit and then the weather will be more unsettled. As we get closer to the weekend, the confidence in the forecast will increase.
