On Monday, tens of thousands of people will lace up their running shoes and hope to pound all 26.2 miles of pavement from Hopkinton to Boston. It will mark the 121st running of the Boston Marathon.

It's the world's oldest annual marathon and one of the most prestigious. Now the illustrious history of the race is appearing in the feature-length film "Boston: The Documentary."

The film's director, Jon Dunham, is the first filmmaker to have had access to all of the Boston Athletic Association's archival film. And he's got the Boston Symphony Orchestra providing the soundtrack.

Jon Dunham joined WBUR's All Things Considered to discuss the new film.

This segment aired on April 14, 2017.
