2 Doctors Identified As Victims In South Boston Condo Double Homicide

Police say two doctors were found dead inside a Boston luxury condominium building, and the suspect in their deaths was shot multiple times after exchanging gunfire with police.

Police say Dr. Lina Bolanos and Dr. Richard Field were found dead inside their penthouse at the Macallen Building in South Boston on Friday night. Authorities have described their deaths as a double homicide.

Both doctors were anesthesiologists — Bolanos worked at Massachusetts Eye and Ear; Field worked out of the North Shore Pain Management practice.

Officers had arrived at the building for a report of a man with a gun. Police say 30-year-old Bampumim Teixeira fired at officers when they confronted him at the door. Police fired back. Teixeira was shot and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The officers weren't hurt.

Authorities say multiple charges are expected against Teixeira. He'll be arraigned Monday in South Boston Municipal Court.

The Suffolk county district attorney's office said Saturday evening that Teixeira recently served jail time for robbing a South Boston bank twice, once in 2014 and again in 2016. The DA's office said Teixeira pleaded guilty in both cases.

Police say they believe the victims and Teixeira knew each other.
