Boston Globe Columnist Cullen Placed On Leave Amid Examination Of His Work

The Boston Globe on Friday placed well-known metro columnist Kevin Cullen on paid administrative leave in light of questions, the Globe says, "that have publicly surfaced" about some of his writing.

In an editor's note, the Globe says Cullen has been placed on leave "while a thorough examination, involving a third party with expertise, is done of his work."

The decision comes after the blog Turtleboy Sports and WEEI over the last day published items raising questions about some of Cullen's writing and interviews regarding the Boston Marathon bombing and its aftermath.

Earlier Friday, the Globe had said it was reviewing Cullen's work.

Cullen has written many columns on the bombing and its survivors, from one published the day after the bombings, to, most recently, his April 14 piece marking the fifth anniversary of the attack.
