Forecast: A Nice Couple Of Days Ahead, Heat Still On This Weekend

Let's get the possibility of 100-degree heat this weekend or early next week out of the way first this morning. Boston Logan Airport, since 1936, has only reached 100 degrees 15 times, so it's not something that occurs very often. As a matter of fact, the last time it did was 2011.

Later this weekend as high-pressure builds into the region, there is the possibility that some areas could reach that century mark, along with humidity. This would likely mean heat advisories and heat warnings and it would be difficult to really do much of anything outside between 11 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon, when the heat would be most intense.

As we get closer to the weekend, we will have a better idea of how widespread that heat is going to be.

The next couple of days look great, with plenty of sunshine and pleasantly warm temperatures with manageable levels of humidity. You probably noticed that this morning is quite cool but there will be a very rapid warm up towards 80 degrees this afternoon, though it will be cooler at the coastline.

Tonight continues to be quite comfortable, with temperatures down into the 50s to near 60 in Boston. Tomorrow is another very nice day, although you'll notice a little more humidity in the air.

Before the warm air arrives Friday, we will have a period of showers on Thursday. I'm hoping that most of us see of soaking rain because that will set us up in good stead for the upcoming heat, which is likely to last for several days.
