The Cambridge city manager plans to meet Monday with officials from Bird, the company that put dockless scooters in Cambridge without city approval.

The California-based company left a fleet of its rentable scooters in Cambridge nearly two weeks ago, without telling the city. Cambridge officials call the move illegal, but say they will not confiscate the scooters for now.

Cambridge Mayor Marc McGovern has said there's lots of questions to be answered about how the scooter-sharing program will work, like who's responsible for moving scooters left on a sidewalk, or who's responsible if someone injures themselves.

A Bird spokesperson said in a statement that riders in Cambridge have "enthusiastically adopted" the service already, and that they look forward to working with the city.
