State Police Investigate Shooting At State Park In Washington, Mass.

State police are investigating a shooting in a state park in a western Massachusetts.

Police say troopers responded to October Mountain State Forest in the town of Washington at about 1 a.m. Tuesday.

There they found a victim, described as a young man, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

He was taken to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

His name was not immediately released.

The suspect is thought to have fled the area.

At 16,500 acres, October Mountain is the largest state forest in Massachusetts.
