A series of house parties and rallies is planned for Sunday to protest the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, and demonstrators plan to counterprotest outside the Boston event.

Students for Life of America announced Wednesday that its members will rally in Boston and five other metro areas, in an attempt to "offer a pro-life voice to the story of this confirmation."

The counterprotests will also take place in New York City, Chicago, Denver, St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Columbus, Ohio — all locations where coordinating "#StopKavanaugh" events are planned by activists concerned with the Trump nominee's stance on issues including abortion rights.

"Students are savvy about the reality that runaway judicial activism has resulted in the radical abortion policies of the United States," Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life America, said in a statement. "This nomination is a chance to restore respect for life to the Supreme Court."

The Kavanaugh protest in Boston is scheduled for 1 p.m., at the CiC Boston space on the 18th floor of 50 Milk St.

The local events, which also include house parties in Arlington, Hingham and Mashpee and a rally at the Orleans/Eastham Rotary, are hosted by members of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts.

On a website promoting the events, NARAL says Kavanaugh's confirmation would "topple the delicate pro-choice balance of the Court." "If confirmed, pro-choice activists have no doubt that he will cast the deciding vote to gut Roe v. Wade and criminalize abortion," the group said.

Kavanaugh's confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee are set to begin Sept. 4.
