Excessive Heat Warning Continues

Today will mark the third day in a row that Boston has reached 90 degrees or higher and this means the city has a second official heat wave of the year.

There is still an excessive heat warning until 9 p.m. for much of the eastern part of the state.

Today will basically be a repeat of Tuesday — and perhaps even slightly more uncomfortable.

Temperatures this afternoon will reach the mid-to-upper 90s and the record in Boston is 96. We have a good shot at tying or even breaking this record.

The heat continues overnight with temperatures slowly falling through the 80s and finally ending up in the 70s by Thursday morning. The heat wave may break for some of us tomorrow with temperatures staying just under 90, but if we get enough sunshine it could mark the fourth day in a row of 90-plus.

A few scattered showers and thunderstorms may cross the area tomorrow, but most of us will remain dry. The humidity will be high in the morning but slowly start to taper off in the afternoon and especially overnight.

Labor Day weekend will bring a blend of clouds and sunshine and pleasantly mild temperatures for Friday, Saturday and into Sunday. They’ll be an increase in humidity after a brief break in it for the next couple of days.

I can't rule out of shower on Labor Day. We will have to wait another day or so to determine just how significant. More heat arrives next week.
