NPRAntony And The Johnsons In Concert

It turned out to be the perfect venue for my very first Antony and the Johnsons concert: The Sixth and I Synagogue in Washington, D.C., is a breathtaking space with a gorgeous domed structure and attention to detail — detail that includes terra cotta carvings and a stained-glass Star of David. It all made for a glorious atmosphere to hear a great band of musicians led by the angelic quiver of Antony Hegarty.

Hegarty's unique tenor has graced the songs of Lou Reed, Bjork, Bryan Ferry, Rufus Wainwright and Hercules and Love Affair. On this night, however, he focused on music from his new CD, The Crying Light, as well as his 2005 breakthrough (I Am a Bird Now) and a few surprises.

In addition to presenting the entire Feb. 3 concert here — and on the All Songs Considered Live Concerts podcast — we've also just begun a partnership with Pitchfork.tv. So now you can see Hegarty and his talented band of musicians by clicking here.

Here are the musicians, and if you look to your left, you'll also find a photo gallery and set list. Enjoy, and let us know what you thought of the show by putting your comments below.
