Los Angeles roots-rock band Dawes is back on World Cafe — this time with its own label and a new album, All Your Favorite Bands. The album was produced in Nashville by David Rawlings, Gillian Welch's musical partner, whom the band describes as a kind of "basketball coach." The title track wishes an ex that all things go well, including all of the ex's favorite bands never breaking up.

Along with songs from the new album, Dawes also does a version of the Warren Zevon song they performed for David Letterman during his final run of shows, "Desperados Under the Eaves." Lead singer and songwriter Taylor Goldsmith declares it the best song ever written about Los Angeles.
