The White House this week gave the world a first glimpse of its plan to democratize post-war Iraq.

Eighteen months of occupation to take Iraq from dictatorship to fledgling democracy. Critics warn the plan is a dangerous fantasy, and that "democratizing" the Middle East is foolhardy, if not impossible.
