There were shocking scenes this week, in a world that is hard to shock.

Palestinians were tearing Gaza from the West Bank in an overnight civil war between Hamas and Fatah, as the US looks on in dismay. Sacred minarets were blown to rubble in Iraq in the very same spot where a blasted Golden Dome unleashed bloody sectarian violence a year ago.

It's been a bad week for Scooter Libby — he's still headed to jail. There's a subpoena for Harriet Myers. Immigration reform may be back from the dead. And the planet holds its breath for a computer on the fritz in space.

This hour On Point: we go behind the headlines of a hot week.

Guests:

Richard Wolffe, senior White House correspondent for Newsweek

Raghida Dergham, Senior Diplomatic correspondent and columnist for Al-Havat, one of the top newspapers in the Arab world based in London;
Jack Beatty, On Point news analyst, senior editor at the Atlantic Monthly

This program aired on June 15, 2007.
