Our Week In The Web: August 29, 2014

We like to be transparent here with our online strategies (that's pretty much the purpose of this weekly blog update, after all). So it only seems natural this week to talk about asking question and looking for answers on our various social media channels. We like to frame our upcoming hours around a central thematic question — what's the meat of the issue here? What kinds of responses are we interested in that we can use effectively during our broadcast, and the editorial planning that precedes those broadcasts? What's going to get us all thinking before we dive into the tricky issues? We bring this thought process up this week because quite a few of you were a little confused / surprised / downright angry about a question this week about Beyoncé 's status as a proud outspoken feminist. As we explained, we weren't necessarily questioning Beyoncé's devotion to the feminist movement, but rather, bringing up and seeking out those critics who have.  In the never-ending and sometimes context-free stream of Twitter and Facebook, it can be hard to realize when a post is in total seriousness or has a bit more concept behind it. We're here to say that we're looking for conversation and consideration, and we're glad so many of you seem to be, too.
