High politics and a huge evacuation this week as Hurricane Matthew bears down on the southeast coast. Millions on the move before the storm. In the VP debate, Mike Pence and Tim Kaine go at it, talking insults, truth and lies. We’ve got a Snowden look-alike who may just be a hoarder, Bill Clinton talking “craziest” things about Obamacare, the U.S. and Russia getting huffy now over Syria, and a Nobel Peace Prize where peace did not pass. The Daily Beast: NSA Thief Worked With Elite Hacker Squad -- "The retired Navy officer arrested for allegedly removing highly classified information from the National Security Agency worked with the organization's elite computer hackers, who specialize in using computer code to penetrate the systems of foreign nations, according to a former colleague and the man’s online resume."

NBC News: The 2016 Race Has Returned to Where It Was Six Weeks Ago -- "Back in August, here were the political stories we were covering: Hillary Clinton had a convincing lead in the polls and on the battleground map; Democrats held the upper hand in the fight for Senate control; Republicans were looking for ways to separate themselves from Donald Trump; and the Trump campaign was in disarray. Well, despite how Trump was able to close the gap in September, the 2016 race is starting to look like it did back in August."

Miami Herald: Florida locks down as powerful Matthew nears — "Hurricane Matthew, blamed for killing at least 108 in Haiti, began battering Florida Thursday as residents up and down the coast braced for what could be the first strike by a major storm in a decade. At 2 p.m., the storm was parallel to Miami, steaming toward Freeport at about 14 mph."

This program aired on October 7, 2016.
