Two weeks of political rhetoric reach their culmination Thursday night, when Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton addresses the Democratic National Convention.

For some insight into what goes into preparing a major speech like this, Michael Waldman — a speech writer for the nominee's husband, former President Bill Clinton — joined WBUR's Morning Edition.

Waldman, who is attending the Democratic convention, wrote thousands of speeches for Bill Clinton. He remembers how involved Hillary Clinton was in some of those addresses, including her husband's first State of the Union address.

This segment aired on July 28, 2016.
