Rep. Moulton: With Party 'Soul-Searching' To Do, House Democrats Delay Leadership Elections

04:05

Thursday was supposed to mark a vote for leadership in the Democratic Party in the U.S. House of Representatives.

In past years, this has largely been a formality, keeping House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi at the top.

But a group of representatives, including Rep. Seth Moulton, of Massachusetts, have called for and won a delay on the vote until after Thanksgiving.

It's likely to give House Democrats time to discuss whether new leadership is necessary following the party's loss in the presidential election.

Moulton joined Morning Edition to discuss the situation.

This segment aired on November 16, 2016.
