Lawmakers Urge State To Examine Corporate Tax Breaks
ResumeThis year has been a tough one for jobs on the 495 beltway.
In January, the solar panel manufacturer Evergreen Solar announced it would close its Devens plant and slash 800 jobs. This month, Fidelity Investments announced it was closing its Marlborough firm, and was moving the 1,100 jobs out of state.
Both companies received financial incentives from the state. And both announcements sparked outrage, including from lawmakers — who have vowed to examine the incentives given to the companies. One of the lawmakers seeking a change to the law is state state Sen. James Eldridge, whose District includes Devens and Marlborough.
