For some people, it's easy to sit back and say, 'Yeah, I've had a couple great years.' Not that there's anything wrong with that. But very few people have had a couple of years quite like Shea Rose.

Rose was named the R&B/soul/urban contemporary artist of the year at the Boston Music Awards. She appears on a bonus track of this year's Grammy Award winning Jazz album. And hip-hop royalty, Queen Latifah, named her "America's next female rapper."

Rose graduated from the Berkelee College of Music last year. She's been rapping for all of a year and a half.

Shea Rose is performing April 5 at the Arts at the Armory in Somerville, April 12 at State Room in Boston and April 19 at Brighton Music Hall.
