Lake Street Dive Hits Its Stride
ResumeWhen four jazz majors at New England Conservatory met in a practice room in 2003 for their first rehearsal as the "free country" band Lake Street Dive, the initial result wasn't quite what they had hoped.
The quartet, who barely new each other at the time, recalls sounding "terrible" at first, but an undeniable chemistry within the group kept them coming back for more.
After years of writing, improvising and touring almost non-stop, Lake Street Dive has hit its stride with a jazzy, rootsy, soul-infused sound that is all their own. This "coming of age" inspired the self-titling of their most recent full-length album and created a new wave of momentum for the group. Their most recent accomplishment is an EP of cover songs titled "Fun Machine".
