Finding The Right Nanny

There is so much that is still unknown about the tragic death of Rehma Sabir, the Cambridge child who suffered massive head trauma, fractures, and possibly abuse before she died just a few days after her first birthday.

Prosecutors allege the family's 34-year old nanny assaulted Rehma. The nanny is currently being held on $500,000 bail, and could face a murder charge once an autopsy is completed. The nanny never had a criminal record. But she did have previous run ins with the law, including an assault charge and two restraining orders.

This week, the Middlesex county DA released a statement saying, "Very few can fully understand the sorrow and pain that Rehma's parents are enduring." While that is absolutely true... many parents can understand the sudden sense of uncertainty, fear and worry about vetting care givers. How do you do it? Where do you look? Who has the time, the money, to take every last precaution before welcoming a care giver into your home?
